Cinnamon and Pecan Waffles

  • 1 1/4 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1 cup all purpose flour
  • 2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. brown sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. cinnamon
  • 3 cups buttermilk
  • 3 Tbsp. butter, melted and cooled
  • 2 Tbsp. canola oil
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1 cup pecans, finely chopped + more if you want to garnish with them

  1. Sift the dry ingredients into a large mixing bowl.
  2. Add the remaining wet ingredients and mix until well combined.
  3. Add the finely chopped pecans. I use my food processor for this.
  4. Preheat your Holstein Housewares Heart Shaped Waffle Maker.
  5. Spray lightly with nonstick cooking spray.
  6. Pour 1/4 cup of the batter into each section of the waffle maker and close.
  7. Cook until light golden brown and crispy on the outside, but still fluffy on the inside.
  8. About 6 minutes was the perfect cooking time, but time may vary with different waffle batters.
  9. Serve hot with your favorite toppings like whipped cream, more pecans and pure maple syrup!
  10. Makes about 20 Heart Shaped Waffles.
  11. *To freeze- Cool waffles on a cooling rack and then store in a freezer friendly container or plastic bag.
  12. Reheat in the toaster, microwave, or our favorite- the oven at 350 degrees.
